ADVENTURE ON LARUT HILL

SYNOPSIS

      This story began when Uncle Henry had to attends an important business meeting regarding his millions project of built a luxurious bungalows with his partners while his wife gone to KL.So,Uncle Henry has to send his only son,Georgie stayed together with his brother's children,Lyn and Kenny so that they can keep an eye on Georgie.Uncle Henry has already planned a trip to Taiping Zoo for his son,Georgie together with his cousins,Lyn and Kenny.But Lyn and Kenny hated their cousins.His parents had spoilt him since he was small because he was their only son and he had growned up to be fat and lazy and very rude also hates animals.He also will makes things miserable for everyone when he gets bored.They wouldn't mind going to the zoo with Georgie,as long as they could take their friends,Mimi and Zul too.
       So,on that morning trip,Uncle Henry drove the children to the Taiping Zoo by his large tomato-red Mercedes.When they arrived there,Uncle Henry has asked Zul to take care of everyone as he is the oldest.They had an enjoyable time inside the zoo except Georgie that really spoiled the whole trip because he doesn't likes animals at all.Before they finished their trip in that zoo,Georgie went to the gift shop,bought some souvenirs for his mother.The children suggested some of the souvenirs that would suitable for his mothers,but nothing they suggested pleased Georgie.At last the children wandered out of the shop and feed the monkeys.After a few minutes they wondered that Georgie has gone.
        All of them started to find Georgie.Zul felt worried because Georgie's father had put him in charge of his son and if they couldn't find Georgie,he would be in big trouble.They asked the ticket officer whether he has saw Georgie went out from the zoo and the man told that he saw Georgie left the zoo.Suddenly Mimi began to smiled and told the others that maybe Georgie went up to the fun-fair on Larut Hill because she remembered he heard Georgie talks about fun-fair when they were looking at the tigers.
        The journey to find Georgie up to Larut Hill began and must go by jeep.They went out from the jeep and started walking as fast as they could go.Suddenly Kenny heard a faint voice "help".So they followed the direction Kenny had heard the voice.Unfortunately,it wasn't Georgie but it was a Scottish man Sandy that has sprained his ankle.
         Things become worse when suddenly there was a bright flash of lightning and a loud crash of thunder.A large black cloud has covered the sky and cold wind began to blow.A moment after that,rain began to poured down and started flooded all over the places.All of them included Sandy tried to looked out for shelter.Zul and Kenny tried to get helped from the workers cut up the huge branch that had lying across the road.The workers tried to called up the Emergency Rescue Service but didn't got because there's too much static electricity caused by the storm.At last,the workers themselves helped the children and also Sandy get  out from the affected area.
          Georgie was actually went back to his father's business meeting place that was in the Golden Willow Restaurant by itself because he get bored in the zoo and he didn't like his cousins as well as his cousin's friends.His father was shocked as he saw Georgie entered the meeting room.His father was scolded him and at the moment Georgie get scolded from his father,Kenny,Lyn,Zul,Mimi and also Sandy entered the room.All of them was shocked to saw Georgie was there.The children told from the very beginning until the end.Uncle Henry apologize the children and also sandy on behalf of his son and warned Georgie behave himself,respect the others,and also mind his words.

5-Maintains a good relationships with the other of the family members.
6-We should be thankful to God on what we have right now.


COMMENTS

       My comments about this story are,it is a well-organised and straight  forward story from the very beginning until the end of the story that readers can understands straight forward without have to thinking very hardly.The author,Jean Adnan portray Larut Hill and Taiping Zoo as the background place where this story is creates.The author use a simple words in this story and it is very suitable for a new readers and also a new learners on english languages.This story also give attentions on nature while the story at the Larut Hill.For example,Sandy,the Scottish man that has sprained his ankle is a nature lover knows better about the nature especially the types of birds.I also has learn new things from this story for example,if a tree trunk is cut across,we can see circles inside the trunk.Each ring means a year of the tree's life.So we just have to count how many circles there are and that tells us how old the tree was.So,as the conclusion,"Adventure On Larut Hill"is a very adventurous story,very interesting and the most important things is,I really enjoy reading this book.

Billy Budd and The Encantadas

synopsis

The merchant sailor,Billy Budd,is inspected and enlisted for naval service on the Bellipotent.Although his civillian captain is not happy to see him go,he has to release him to the navy.Billy is a wonderful sailor.All the sailors like him for his charming looks and honest simple pesonality.He waves good-bye to his shipmates as he is taken aboard his new ship.
Billy does well in his new surroundings.The other sailors like him as much as he was liked on the merchant vessel.He works in the topsails and makes fast friends with companions and a veteran sailor,referred to as the Dansker.
The captain of the ship is Fairfax Vere.Captain Vere is a very stern man.He is well-read and educated and he speaks often in historical allusions.Many find him to be less than personable and he is not popular with the sailors,although he is respected.
There is a new master-at-arms on the ship and his name is John Claggart.The job of the master-at-arms has turned into policing his own crew.He is primarily responsible for watching over the men.In recent months there have been mutinies on British ships,so the officers are ill-at-ease.Claggart's job is more difficult as a result of this.
One of the corporals tell Claggart that Billy Budd was ridiculing him.Claggart takes offense at this lie and begins to watch Billy carefully,counterfeiting pleasant hellos.When Billy finds out from the veteran sailor that Claggarts doesn't like him,he doesn't believe it.
After the pursuit of an enemy ship,Claggart goes to Captain Vere and tells him that he thinks one of the men is dangerous,liable to mutiny.When he tells him that he means Billy Bud,the captain doesn't believe him.He takes Billy and Claggart into a room and makes Claggart accuse Billy to his face.Billy is stunned by the accusation and when pressured to talk,he punches Claggart in the forehead.This punch hit just right and kills the master-at-arms.
Captain Vere is  at first confused,but he calls a court of other officers to review the crime and set a sentence.Although some of them feel that Billy unintionally commited a crime,Captain Vere maintains that on a warship a murder is a murder regardless of intention.They convict Billy and sentence him to hang at down.
At dawn,all the men assemble and Billy is hung by the main mast.the sunrises on his body framed by the mast and the yardarm.Some men think that he seemed to die before the noose tightened.Although an official report stated that Billy stabbed Claggart after he was rightly accused,the truth of his excution lived on in a ballad sung by sailors all over the world.

-Billy does not struggle with the noval officer enlisting him,because this is his duty,Althought he might not want to go into the navy,he goes anyway and he tries to do well once he gets there.
2)Captain Vere is an intellectual;he is also mistaken for a gentleman
-His ideas of morality and right and wrong are heavily.
 
Comment
I found that this novel is very tragedic and quite interesting to be read among english novels reader.It is because the novel,as superb tragedy must,ends on a calm and satisfying note.The tragic hero is a superior being whose martyrdom elevates him even further.He is not perfect;he possesses the flaw which contributes to his fate.(At times of intense emotion,he is unable to speak;therefore,he retorts to Claggartwith his fist.)The Encantadas,or Enchanted Isles,a book of ten sketches-all laid in the lonely Galapagos Islands off the coast of Eucador-represents Herman Merville at his highest point of achievement as a writer.First published in The Piazza Tales,each sketch is a gem by itself.Compassion and wit mingle with anger as Melville presents his two major themes-the power of evil and man in isolation.

WUTHERING HEIGHTS

SYNOPSIS

This story is about of Mr Earshawn's family.They live at Wuthering Heights. Mr Earshawn has a son, Hindley and  a daughter, Catherine. Their live is always happiness but not longer since their father brought an adopt to their house. They decided to call it Heatcliff. Hindley hate him very much. He never get a good attendance from Hindley.After they have grow up, their parents are dead. Hindley had change a lot. He made the boy with the servant and set him to work on the farm instead. Furthermore, Catherine and Heatcliff had the feeling each other but Catherine don't want to married him because it would shame her if marry Heatcliff because his life is bad now. So, she has married with Edgar Linton.

COMMENT :

This story is full of sad because at the and everyone around the main character has dead. In addition, many of problem accrue because of misunderstanding. We have to be together if one of our family had problems.Don't leave them alone because it will make us far from each other and try to understand them. Furthermore, love is blind even Catherine already married with Edgar Linton but she still love Heatcliff. Actually, we don't have to be shy if someone we love comes from poor family.This book are not bored because one side is story and one side is picture.

STEP BY WICKED STEP

This story is about family life where it tell about six young children who had different background family. Its start with Richard story. His life begins soon after His father died, his mother married Mr Coldstone Richard's stepfather was kind to his sister, Charlotte, but treated Richard cruelly and send him to Mordanger school. Richard was so unhappy that he ran away to sea and did not return for many years. When he finally returned to old Hardwick Hall, he discovered that his mother, stepfather and sister had all died. Devastated, the now wealthy Richard was left to decide weather to stay, or leave home and disappear forever.

Next is Claudia story. Her parents quarrelled a lot and so they split up. When Claudia's dad moved in with his new girlfriend, Stella, Claudia was rude and ignored her out of loyalty towards her mother. However, when she saw her dad's friends treating Stella in a similar manner, she realised that it was unfair and she subsequently changed her attitude towards Stella.

Follow by Colin story. Colin's Mum took up with Jack when Colin was a baby. Colin called him 'Dad', and they were very close. His mum decided to leave Jack and they moved away to another place. Colin was very upset and missed his stepdad. He started getting into trouble at school. He planned to run away and find his stepdad when he was older.

Ralph's  is the next person tell about his family, He had a complicated family life. His first stepmother, Annabel, was unpopular because she never left him and his two brother alone with their dad. Ralph's second stepmother, Janet was so well-organised that both his parents loved her. Ralph and his brother, however, hated her because of all ruler she imposed. Ralph also dislike sharing his house with Janet four children. Ralph adore Flora, his dad's new pregnant girlfriend. He hopped Flora would stay on as his stepmother.

Next is Pixie story. Pixie dad lived with his new wife, Lucy and her daughter's Hetty and Sophie. When Hetty moved into pixie's room, Pixie tried to get rid of her by first telling her ghost stories and later giving her semi silence treatment. Lucy and pixie had a huge row but eventually they cleared up all their misunderstanding. From then on, everyone got alone better.




Lastly is Robbo story. Robbo and his sister, Callie, lived with their mum, Roy and Dumpa, their young half-brother. Robbo got along quite well with Roy but Callie hated Roy. She did whatever she could to cause problems between roy and her mum in the hope that her mum and dad get back together. Eventually Callie moved in with her dad as evryone realised that she could never live happly with roy.

COMMENT :

This is a form five novel. This novel is quite interesting and give a lot of knowledge. We are not same like other person, don't judge people in mordanger school are bad person, some of them, they have to go there because of their life, family background. As a mother or a father, we have to settle the problem and think about children. They can be the victim of the environment. If the father or a mother want to find a new wife or husband, make sure that they are good enough to take care of your children and can get along with them. some of children don't even know what happen to their surrounding.


When reading this book, you can image what actually happen to them, you can put yourself there and fell what they feel. Maybe when you start reading this book, you will find that you are the lucky persons because you have a great family that give support to you. You can follow this story very well and the usage of words is simple and can be understand.
